Lamar C. Glenn Jr, age 70, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at his residence after an extended battle with Multiple Myeloma. Lamar was born August 12, 1950 in Yantley, Alabama to the late Lamar C. and Annie Ruth Glenn. Lamar accepted Christ at an early age and joined Little Hope Baptist and Gilfield Baptist Church under watch care. He was a 1968 graduate of Choctaw County Training School in Lisman, Alabama. Lamar was a Master Mason and a member of St. Mark Lodge #7. Lamar entered the United States Military and served in the Vietnam War. Lamar married his high school sweetheart Wanda Moss in 1970 and relocated to Columbus, Ohio. Lamar began his career as a Columbus Police Officer where he served as a Sergeant and retired after 32 years. Lamar and Wanda were active members of Second Baptist Church under Dr. Howard T. Washington, where he enjoyed being a part of the music ministry. Lamar received the Overcomer of the Year Award in 2016 presented by Second Baptist Church.
Lamar loved the outdoors. He was affectionately known as Mr. Fish Lamar. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and collector of antique cars. Lamar enjoyed riding his motorcycle and cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren. Lamar enjoyed traveling and making others laugh and smile. Lamar’s charisma and energy would light up every room. Lamar took pride in providing for his wife and children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar C. and Annie Ruth Glenn, mother in law Elmira Moss, and sister, Teresa Glenn. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Wanda Glenn, children Steven (Kenya) Glenn, Olive Branch, Mississippi, Patrick (Shemekia) Glenn, Columbus, Ohio, and Melanie (Eric) Gunther, Columbus, Ohio. Siblings Alfred (Catherine) Glenn, Yantley, Alabama, Eddie Carl (Roxanne) Glenn, Columbus, Ohio, Lavelle (Herman) Gaines, Butler, Alabama, Robert (Gloria) Glenn, Pushmataha, Alabama, Gregory (Oleathea) Moss, and Michael Glenn, Columbus, Ohio 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews and friends.
