Lawrence Kendrick, Jr. Obituary

Lawrence Charles Kendrick, Jr., affectionately known as Kenny White; was born on November 11, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Lawrence C. Kendrick, Sr. and Mary (Cheek) Kendrick. He departed this life on April 9, 2026, peacefully in his home.

Lawrence graduated from East High School, Columbus, Ohio, in 1966.

Lawrence was a United States Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War.

Lawrence was employed by the Timken Manufacturing Company, First Community Village, Capital Park Apartments, and retired from Honda Motor Company, Inc.

Lawrence attended Mt. Calvary Holy Church as a youth with his Aunt Rosie and visited Gospel Tabernacle Church with his grandmother.

He was an avid sports fan and liked playing basketball in his prime. He was known for shooting the ball with his left hand. Lawrence played pool and won several tournament games consecutively for 5 years. Lawrence loved jazz and had a massive collection of hits throughout the years. He and his friends had a special handshake, and they called it “the dap.” Lawrence loved his cars. Anyone who knew Lawrence knew he loved popcorn. He was known for speaking his mind about current events and imparting wisdom. Lawrence will be missed.

Lawrence is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Kendrick, Sr., mother, Mary Kendrick, brother, Leroy Kendrick, Sr., and son, Kareem Douglas. Lawrence is survived by sisters Yavonne (Richard), Jacqueline (Todd) Turnbo, and Kathy Anthony; daughter Lisa (Kyle) Robertson; sons Bryant (Teena) Kendrick, Terrell Williams, and Lawrence III (aka Little Kenny) Williams; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and several lifelong friends.
