Linwood Smith Jr. Obituary

Linwood "Ed" Smith Jr. was born October 13, 1957 to Priscilla "Sissy" Ann and Linwood Smith Sr. He departed this life Thursday, August 6, 2020 in the comfort of his home.

A 1975 graduate of East High School & Grambling State University c/o '79, he excelled in his studies while continuously involved with both ROTC and the marching band. Upon completion of high school, Linwood officially enlisted with the USAF, were he rapidly achieved officer status.

Linwood is preceded in death by both of his parents as well as grandparents, William and Dora Cooper; aunts, WilDonna Holloway and Ruth Blake and grandson Amari.

Heartfelt memories are left with his children, Linwood D. Smith & Mieke (Darrell) Cobb-Patterson; siblings, Lillian (Colvin) Lemley, Mary (Jerry) Broadus, Shannon (Carla), Price (Alicia), William and Kevin Smith; aunts, Sara (Cliff) Arline and Rose Marshall and uncle, Shannon Cooper.

He will be most missed by all of the young lives he impacted, including his closest nephews, Stanley, Price, Chuckie and Marcus; niece, Priscilla; along with his grandchildren, Emoni, Porshe, Akaiya, Amiya, Ava and Eden and his special friend, Demetria Huff.

Although highly educated and well traveled, Ed treated every path that he crossed with dignity and respect. His easy smile and quick wit is only one example of his great personality and beautiful mind.

Linwood's memory will most certainly be honored and cherished by a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and many many more.
