Lorena Hinton, aged 94, passed away on December 8, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio. Born on November 16, 1930, In Clemson, South Carolina. Lorena dedicated much of her life to the service of others, both through her professional and personal endeavors. Lorena was a cherished member of the Ohio State University Hospital food service team while she attended Cosmetology school. Lorena worked as a beautician for many years before she retired. Lorenas formative education was at East High School and she had subsequent training at Cosmetology School. Known for her warmth and generosity, Lorena touched many lives with her readiness to help anyone in need, especially her family. A pillar in her community; Lorena was a big part of the Community Relations board for Poindexter Village apartments, the board served as the voice for residents. She served as the treasure of the board for many years and arranged numerous community events to assist people in the community with obtaining the necessary needed to thrive. Her hobbies included crocheting, traveling, and playing cards, activities that she pursued with joy and shared with those around her. Lorena was also baptized on January 7, 1972, at Second Baptist Church.
Lorena is survived by her daughter, Denise Steadman; son, Larry Hinton Jr. (Cheri); grandchildren Larry Horsley, Dalyonda Horsley, Dakia Horsley, Anthony, Kimberly, and Larry Hinton III; 16 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind a host of cousins and friends who adored her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth Giddens and James McDowell.
