Loretta Praleau Williams-Robinson was born to the late Mary Evans and Henry Praleau in Suncome, SC, as the only child. They moved to Columbus, OH when she was eight years old.
She attended the Columbus public schools of Milo Elementary and Everett Junior High.
In 1948, she was married to David Williams, Sr. They had seven children to that union. In 1965, Loretta and Jessie Robinson were married until his passing in 1990.
Still keeping on, she worked at Oakfield Nursing Home as a cook for many years, later she worked at Westminster Thumber where she retired. She enjoyed watching Law & Order and OSU Coach James, who she always talked about on TV, playing Bingo, cooking big meals, baking rolls, pound cakes, greens, cornbread, pies, and sweet potatoes, of course. She also enjoyed watching all the grandkids with their children and loved to hear about a new great or great-great-grandchild.
Most of all, she loved family reunions, because she could see all of the children. Everyone knew that she liked KFC and that she and chicken were best friends. We can’t forget the yellow car she drove for 16 years. You knew when the yellow submarine was coming. She loved to praise the Lord and talk about His goodness.
Loretta was preceded in death by her father, Henry Praleau; mother, Mary Evans; daughters, Nina Mae Throlbon, Delores Johnson, Rosemary Hanks, and Wanda Thomas; son, David Williams, Jr.; granddaughter, Monte Kelso; grandson, Gavin Lee; grandson, Ashanti Williams; great-grandsons, Meeche Alexander, and Shekum Reed, Jr; and close friend, Helen Stokes.
She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Curtis Williams and Mark Anthony Williams; 19 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; and a host of close friends, Vaness Latham, Georgia Brown, and Dorothy Butler.
