Louise Marie Benton

Louise Marie Benton, age 82, of Columbus, Ohio departed this life on earth to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 19, 2022.  She was born on July 23, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio from the union of Daniel and Fannie Mae (Lumpkin) Benton. Louise received her education in Columbus City Schools.  She worked as the neighborhood hairstylist and fashion designer.

Louise accepted Christ at the age of 9 yrs. old, at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir alongside her siblings. As a child, Louise was very energetic and was a tomboy. She thoroughly enjoyed being the life of the party and coming up with funny phrases such as “Take It an easier greasy, you got a long way to slide.” Louise enjoyed playing the lottery, keeping a numbers book, watching Lifetime movies, and a variety of games shows.

She is preceded in death by parents Daniel and Fannie Mae (Lumpkin) Benton; sisters, Ella Mae Blue, Louis Ann Skeaton, Betty Ruth and Beverly Jean Benton; brothers Russell Lumpkin, Robert Daniel, and Charles Edward Benton; grandson Larry Benton-Rode and great-grandson Michael Woods Jr.

Louise is survived by son Ray James Benton (Deborah Riley), daughter Tina Marie Benton; “Little” Big Brother, James (Patricia) Benton, sister-in-law Shirley Benton; granddaughters Tia, Tanisha, Tashawna, and LaTonya Benton; grandsons Terrance, Deshawn Benton-Rode; great-granddaughter’s Shayiona Woods, Shania Ross, Makyah Woods, Journi Benton and Layla Rode; great-grandsons Elijah Cherry and Jayce Benton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
