A Time To Be Born Makenzi Marie Ridley’s journey began August 21, 2003 when she was born to Seneca Ridley Turner and Chauncey Cumberlander in Columbus, Ohio.
Makenzi started cheerleading at an early age and was the coach for two teams, The Columbus Youth Enrichment Center and for the Columbus Penguins. She also played softball and basketball for Tree Of Life. In high school, she cheered for Northland High School and Saint Francis DeSales. Makenzi enjoyed dancing and could be found on Tik Tok recording with family and friends. She danced with Foot Steps on Wings and Judah Performing Arts at Rhema Christian Center.
Makenzi loved to volunteer feeding the homeless with X-Clusive Empowerment Network at the local shelters and on the land.
Makenzi was an entrepreneur at heart. She created her own clothing and beauty line called MakMarie Boutique and MakBaby Lashes. She hosted a popup shop with over 25 teen entrepreneurs for the community where hundreds patron’s came through the door and supported the youth. She was an influencer, motivator, and connector in the community and especially among her peers.
Makenzi was a Mama’s girl and would often say “my mom is my twin and best friend”. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a special place in her heart for her siblings. They were the apple of her eye. She supported, encouraged and loved her cousins/friends and had a compassionate heart. Her symbol of remembrance is the orange heart.
