Marvita Annette McCaskill, better known as “Nana” to her family and “Shorty” to her close friends, was born on September 20, 1960, in Columbus, Ohio, to Esther Martin and Henry Smith, and she was raised by Francis Martin. She was working for southeast and working towards opening a restaurant or food truck, because she wanted everyone to experience food from “Straight outta Shorty’s Kitchen.”
She prided herself on the amount of passion she put into every meal she prepared, spreading her love one bite at a time. Marvita was a member of Living Waters Christian Fellowship, where
she found her way to be of service by naturally navigating towards the kitchen. Marvita loved nothing more than spending time with and expressing her love to her family. She loved shopping, doing crafts, and cooking with her grandchildren.
On Thursday, November 9, at 9:08 p.m., she was sadly called home. She was preceded in death by her parents, Esther, Henry, and Francis, as well as her partner in life, Craig Little; granddaughter, Christiana; nephew, Jermar; brother, Steve Watters; along with many other family members that were lost too soon.
She is survived by: her children, Kimberly Roberson and Craig (Portia) Little; stepdaughter, Letha McCaskill; siblings, Thomas (Jackie) Watters, Brenda (Chris) Milsap, Todd Martin, Kevin Martin, and Robin (Mequel) Christian; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
