Mary Alice Brown was born in Detroit, Michigan to the union of Lonnie Brown Sr. and Edna Ruth Martin-Brown on October 7, 1953.
A graduate of Detroit Public schools, Northwestern High School class of 1971. Mary Alice went on to work for Detroit Edison for a number of years. After relocating to Atlanta, Georgia in
1994, Mary Alice worked for Sawnee Electric Membership Corporation. Mary Alice was a loving and resilient mother of three men Andre (Dre) Brown, Michael (Mike) Henry II and Lonnie (LB)
Henry and two step-daughters Monique Wilson and Chakisha (Ki) Dennis. In 2011, she relocated to Columbus, Ohio where she lived the rest of her days.
Mary Alice loved to travel, bowl, cook, bake and a good two step on the dance floor. She enjoyed watching movies and spending time with her children and grand-children. She was a true Atlanta Falcons and Detroit Lions fan. From tailgates to game day watch party’s, Mary Alice loved her some football. She also enjoyed having fish fry’s and playing a competitive game of spades and bid whiz.
Early morning, on Friday, August 16, 2024 in the comfort of her home, God called Mary Alice to his mansion in the sky to receive her crown and wings for a life well lived. Mary Alice bravely
and steadfastly fought Sarcoidosis and Pulmonary Hypertension for over 30 years. Doctors said they believed she was the longest living patient in the United States with her condition. They
marveled at her strength and tenacity to live.
Preceding her in death is her father and mother Lonnie and Edna Brown, brother Lonnie Brown Jr, sister, Brenda Scott, niece Stacy Scott, nephews Iran Martinique, Jason Scott and Da’Vonte Scott; Grandparents Hilliard (D.A.) and Roberta Ragan and Great-Grandmother Mary Willis.
Mary Alice leaves the following family members to celebrate her life: sons Andre, Michael, Lonnie, daughters Monique and Chakisha; brothers Charles Brown, Tony Brown; grandchildren
Andre Brown Jr, Ashley Brown, Justin Brown, Rachel Brown, Ethan Brown, Milicia Henry, Michaela Henry, Kingston Gillyard., Saint Paul Bryant, Kanaiya Robinson, Jamir Barnett and
Cameron Barnett; best friends of over 50 years Elnora Price and Demitrius Franklin; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, cousins and extended families like the Chambers,
White, Neeson, Harper, Davis, Wells and Price.
