Mary Williams Obituary

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith; Henceforth there is a laid up for me a crown of righteousness…” II Timothy 4:7-8

Mary Helen Williams “Sweet Helen” was born July 23, 1947, to Mary Lee Williams and Willie Thomas in Salem, Georgia. On Wednesday, May 22, 2019 an angel of God stopped by Wexner Heritage Village to escort her home to be with the Lord. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.
Helen spent her youth in Columbus, Georgia, and her teen and adult years in Columbus, Ohio. She attended South High School. She took care of her Mother after school which explains her love for family and taking care of others.  On August 2, 1969 she married the love of her life, David Williams. Three years later God blessed their union with the addition of a Daughter, Patricia Lynell “Peachy”. Helen worked at Schottenstein’s  and Shonac Corporation (which was a sister company of Schottenstein’s) for 15 years, Foster Parent  for 5 years, and her remaining years she was a Devoted Housewife and Babysitter for many children. The children she took care of called her Grandma.

Helen accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized at an early age at Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of Second Shiloh Baptist Church where she sang in the Choir and was an Usher in her early years. She loved God and people. She touched everyone she came in contact with. That’s how she earned her nickname “Sweet Helen”.

Helen was preceded in death by her Parent’s Mary Lee Williams-Eiland, and Willie Thomas, Brother Chris Thomas, Mother-in-law Glenna Mae Williams, Father-in-law Oren Williams, Brother-in-law Donald Williams.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories  her loving and dedicated Husband of 49 years, David Williams; Daughter Patricia Lynell “Peachy”;  two special Son’s Victor Dossa and Ibou Seck; Granddaughters Armande Francisca, Ahlina Lanay; Brother’s Willie and Ernest Thomas of MI; Sister’s Carrie Cook, Tracie Bland both of MI, and Donna Anderson of Georgia; Sister-in-law Marian Williams. A host of Nieces, Nephews, Relatives and Friends.
