Maurice Franklin Crouch Jr., better known as Franky, was born on June 2, 1955, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Maurice Franklin Crouch Sr. and Lee Esther Crouch. He departed this life on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Franky grew up in the Brentnell neighborhood, where he spent much of his time at the local recreation center, participating in various sports, including football and basketball. He attended Linden McKinley High School and was a proud member of The City League North Division Championship team that played against Eastmoor and Archie Griffin in The City League Championship. Franky completed his high school studies while serving in the U.S. Army, where he traveled the world and proudly served his country. Franky had an entrepreneurial spirit that was evident throughout his life. He was involved in the family brand, Crouch-Olu Designs, which sold T-shirts and more. He also owned and operated his own food truck, Brothers Crouch BBQ, which featured his creation, Brothers Crouch BBQ Sauce. Above all, Franky deeply loved his family and friends. He cherished the time spent with them and was known for his warm heart, generous spirit, and unwavering loyalty.
Franky is survived by his Daughter, Tirika Whatley; Stepchildren, Scott Howard, Chad Crawford, Laurency Wyatt. Siblings, Douglas (Tonya), Vincent (Helaine), and Eric; his Grandchildren, Malik Whatley, Rhenedra Whatley, Imani Whatley, Ebonie Howard, Jasmine Stillion, Tyson Stillion, Reese Crawford, Chad Crawford Jr.; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Franky and former spouse Sherry Howard Crouch share 20 wonderful years together. Although their relationship wasn't permanent, they were able to remain friends.
