Maxin Blair Smith was born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 23, 1975, the third child of Michael and Millicent Smith.
Maxin’s magnetic relationship with his mother allowed him to shower so many others with his love and kindness. Max shared a flare for fashion and cars with his father and brother. Max shared a unique bond with all of his siblings and a number of rambunctious experiences with each of his sisters.
Max had the pleasure of bringing into this world four amazing children and three grandchildren, Makiera Smith (Maleya James), Montae Smith (Omari Smith), Trevail Douglas (Trevail
Doulas, Jr.), and Maxin Smith II. During his early years, Max started off as a plumber and was exceptional, but in his quest for greater he decided to move to Florida and ultimately began to work for Sun State Ford. It wasn’t long before his magnanimous personality found him supervising the service department. Nearly two decades later, Maxin was a fixture at Sun State and was beloved by his coworkers.
Max loved life and had a smile for everyone. His presence was infectious and his positive energy was contagious. He loved football, but had a special affinity for his Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
Ohio State Buckeyes, and his big brother’s team, The Warriors of Harvest Prep. Maxin had a tremendous appreciation for the spoils of life but was often captivated by life’s simplicities. He loved to watch sunsets on the beach and waking up early to the cacophony of sounds whistled by the melancholic birds blending with the pride of the Florida coastal winds.
Maxin’s love for life and people was only surpassed by his love for Christ. He was impassioned about his prayer life and constantly evangelizing to others about the goodness of our God. On
December 9, 2023 Father God called his son home. Now Maxin is resting safely in the arms of the most high. Thank you God for 48 years with one of the most sincere, profound and genuine
men that’s ever graced this world. Maxin was known by all as a good man; honest and loyal, even to a fault. He leaves behind: his significant other, Kerri McCowan (Kirra); four children; parents; siblings, Michelle Baker, Milan Smith, and Mahogany Akers; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
