Michele Nadine Marshall born September 27, 1964, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Julius and Linda Marshall. She was called home on Thursday, February 9,2023. Michele attended Mohawk Junior High School where she found the love for sports, basketball in particular. She attended Columbus City Schools and graduated from Briggs High School in 1982.
Michele loved to play basketball and often played with the guys from the neighborhood. They say she was a great player, often beating some of the fellas. All the free time she had, she had a basketball in her hand and was ready to shoot hoops. Many who knew her called her, “Ponytail Michele,” because she wore her hair in a ponytail which allowed her to be ready to play ball.
After high school, Michele attended Oklahoma State University from 1983-1986 before a knee injury which ended her career. She moved back to Ohio and worked as a manager for Payless Shoes. A career change landed her in Saint Joseph, Michigan, where she lived for over 20 years. In 2018, she finally made that decision to return to Columbus, Ohio, to be close to family.
Michele enjoyed Sunday dinners and gatherings with the family often being the first person to arrive and last to leave. Her favorite was all FOOD! Michele was quiet but had a huge sense of humor. She did not like nonsense. She loved a good conversation. You would look over, and she would be smiling and laughing. She was an avid OSU fan who loved watching the game with the fellas. Michele was employed with Columbus city schools and will be missed by many.
Michele is preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Linda Marshall; brother, Jermaine Collins; nephew, Michael Marshall; maternal grandmother, Teloia Gardner; and paternal grandmother, Berniece Anderson.
