Mildred Redman Obituary

Mildred Gibson Redman (Harvey), age 85, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor, where she was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life.

Mildred was the youngest of five children and the only daughter born to the late George Harvey and Mary Jane Ford Harvey. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Raymond Grove “Rab” Harvey, James “Dick” Harvey, Vernon Mathew Harvey, and George Harvey III; beloved grandson, William (Bill) Ruffin III; and special sister-in-law, Elizabeth Harvey.

She leaves to cherish her memory her four loving children, Billie Harris (Bruce), Sherry Adepitan (Yomi), Jeff Redman (Valerie), and Tony Jones (Charles). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Ashley Smith (Ryan), Brittany Wicker (Nathan), Elaine Idehen (Bryan), Joshua Pryor, Jordan Pryor (Amani), Nicholas Redman and Shaina Redman; a host of great-grandchildren, Nadia, Tyler, Kayla, Alyssa, Mackenzie, Xavier, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mildred attended Sanders High School in Moorefield, West Virginia, where she proudly marched in the school band as a majorette. She later built a long and dedicated professional career, serving for many years as the Office Manager at Town Street Medical Center. She went on to work at the Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC), where she later retired.

A woman of strong faith and quiet service, Mildred was an active and faithful member of Peace Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as an usher for many years, greeting all with warmth and grace.

Mildred took great pride in her home and found joy in decorating it, especially during the Christmas season, which she loved dearly. She eagerly looked forward to the arrival of spring, when she could plant and tend to her beautiful outdoor flower gardens. A wonderful cook, she delighted in preparing meals for her family, who always looked forward to being invited to her table, and lets not forget her love for playing BINGO.

She was loving, funny, and loved to dance, bringing laughter and light wherever she went. Above all, Mildred was a giving woman—selfless in her care for others. She gave and gave, often placing the needs of others before her own, a testament to her generous heart and enduring spirit.

Mildred will be remembered for her grace, devotion, faith, and unconditional love for her family. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
