Obituary

Monroe Junior Guinn, known to friends and family as “DJ Money Roe,” was born on June 7, 1975, to Monroe Rogers and Christine Guinn in Columbus, Ohio.

He attended Walnut Ridge High School from August 1990 until September 1994, but went on to get his GED in 2009.

In the summer of 1993, he met the woman who would become his wife, with whom he had seven children, the first one being Alyssa Guinn, known to him as Gleegie, in September 1994. In September 2002 he then married his longtime sweetheart, and they continued to have more children.

Even though he had plenty of people to love, his first love was always music, singing and dancing for friends and family as a child. Then he grew older and started to sing and perform in talent shows with his longtime friend. Writing music and performing in talent shows became his new love. But it didn’t pay the bills. So, with children to feed, he started DJing in the summer of 1994. He then started his extensive DJ career with his first everyday gig at the C&S Lounge on 5th Avenue. DJing parties and keeping the music popping was what he became known for, and DJ Money Monroe became his name. He went on to shorten it, per the advice of his wife, to DJ Money Roe. He would DJ at family events, parties, graduations, and night clubs while working in construction, painting, and doing rehab in the family business during the day. He was living his dream, meeting celebrities and making a name for himself.

As the children started to get older, he became the “Hood Dad.” In every neighborhood he lived, all the children loved Mr. DJ. He was funny and loved to party, so all the neighborhood kids would flock to the party house. His birthday party was always the biggest party of the year for him, but the kickoff to summer for everyone else. He was always so loving, kind, and giving. He always tried to make people laugh or smile.  Even when he was down, he would try to make another person happy.

On April 3, 2022, Monroe was called home. He was preceded in death by his father, Monroe Rogers; his brother-in-law, Dwayne Lopez; sister, Tiffany Guinn; uncles, Billy (Ira) Rogers and George Guinn; aunts, Rhoda Guinn and Jackie Guinn; daughter, Autumn Guinn; and granddaughter, Azara Mitchell.  Monroe leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Christine Guinn; mother-in-law, Linda Childs; wife, Alisha Guinn; brothers, Tony Guinn, Joshua Guinn, and Tyron Guinn; sisters, Maria Lopez and April Rogers; sister-in-law, Lindsaye Childs; daughters, Alyssa Guinn, Alexis Guinn, and Aliyah Childs; sons, Monroe A. Guinn, Maleek Guinn, Masson Guinn, and Malaky Guinn; grandchildren, Alisha Stewart, Aleena Boakye, Issac Guinn, William Mitchell, Ida Guinn, Monroe A. Guinn II, Ira Guinn, Carmen Guinn, and Messiah Guinn; and hosts of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. He will truly be missed.
