Montrell DeSean Daniels

Montrell DeSean Daniels, Montrell DeSean Daniels, of Columbus, OH, passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2023. He was only 37 years old but he lived his life to the fullest. Montrell was born on June 19, 1985, in Gary, IN to parents Carla Daniels and Keith Washington.

Montrell was an avid skateboarder and would often be seen with a skateboard in hand while in high school and beyond. After Montrell graduated from Macomb High School, he went to Harper College and later Joliet Junior College where he studied culinary arts. Montrell moved to Columbus, OH to expand his horizons and job prospects. He worked at various warehouse jobs driving forklifts but his heart was always on the culinary arts and skateboarding. When he wasn’t working he could be seen giving lessons to the next generation of skateboarders.

Montrell was affectionately known as the “Funcle”, the fun uncle and he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. His laugh was infectious and contagious. Montrell met a friend everywhere he went. No one was a stranger. He learned to make beats for rap songs at an early age thus igniting his passion for Hip Hop, an eclectic range of music, movies, and books. Montrell was always learning something new and was always excited to tell others. He was kind and loved by many.

Montrell was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Jesse Washington, maternal grandfather, Willie Walker, aunt, Tara Daniels, and nephew Aspen LeMaster. He is survived by his mother, Carla Daniels, father, Keith Washington, brother, Bradlee Washington, sister, Brittanee Daniels, maternal grandmother, Linda Jenkins, paternal grandmother Shelby Johnson, special friend Thu Nguyen, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends.

Services are being held for Montrell on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at Affinity Memorial Chapel, 1370 E Main St, Columbus, OH 43205. The Memorial will be at 3 PM. The celebration of life will be at 4 PM. The repast will be immediately following at the William H. Adams Community Center, 854 Alton Ave, Columbus, OH.
