Mother Beatty Lacey Obituary

Beloved Betty Jean Lacey, age 90, departed her earthly vessel to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 20, 2025.  Betty was born on November 27, 1934, to the late Lambert Ware and Minnie Belle Bridges in Arkansas.  Betty attended Central High School. Her love for children allowed her to serve as a childcare provider. She was employed at St. Stephen’s Community Center, where she retired from at the age of 78.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip H. Lacey; sons, Victor Bridges and Kevin Clark (Josephine); daughter, Angela Bridges; siblings, Clyde Bridges, James Ware, and Dorothy
Ware; and grandson, Marvin Stewart.

]Her legacy lives on through her children, Michael Bridges, Tony Bridges, Tina Bridges, Felicia (Leon) Ward, and Phillip (Victoria) Lacey; grandchildren, Tony Smith, Autamasha (Antwine) Chander, Kabria (Juanita) Cain, Jaquazz (Derrick) Johnson, Willie, Dabree Anderson, Ashequka, Earl Phillip Jr. Lacey, Rondell (Jakaya) Calloway, Phillip Stewart, and Carla, Antwan, Ticara, Monique, Tony, and Micheal Bridges; great-grandchildren, Kalin Horton, Khyasia Penn, Kalia, Parker, Payton, and Poet Anderson, La’Kaila, Ti’Shawn, Tanner, and Tayah Bridges, Jamari, Jaylen, Jamyrah, and Jamir Stewart, Jakobi Bays, Amir Lacey, Derrick Johnson, Jr., Ramya, Reign, Rondell, and Raphel Calloway, Gracesyn, Nyonie, Taliaferro, Braxton, and Jevonn Taliaferro Chander, and Brandon, Tamayia Tony, Tony, and Royalty Bridges; and two great-great-grandchildren, Amias Ronyon and Princess Anta’Leigh Tripplet.

Betty dedicated her life to Christ at a young age where she sang in the choir at Macedonia Baptist Church. She later rededicated her life to Christ in 1975, where she joined Evangelic Gospel Tabernacle, under the late Bishop Alton R. Porter and the late first lady Ethel D. Porter.  Betty was a dedicated and faithful servant, utilizing her gifts as the president of the usher board, pastor’s aid, and choir.

She loved WWE wrestling and trash talking with her grandchildren.  Betty was the quintessential praying grandmother. Never compromising, she was always sacrificing. Her heart and home was a refuge to many. Betty was a walking testimony of God’s goodness and favor. She was committed to doing the Lord’s work. Though her spirit will be missed, we know that she had a heavenly appointment that could not be postponed.
