Nathaniel Hill

Nathaniel Hill, affectionately known as “Nate” & “Little Buddy,” passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at the age of 82, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 7, 1944,
in Forkland, Alabama, to Henry “Pa” Hendricks and Julia Thompson Hill.

Nathaniel dedicated 35 years of service to the Columbus Regional Airport Authority (CRAA) as an Airfield Maintenance Operator before retiring. He was known for his strong work ethic,
dependability, and willingness to help others. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and was a longtime member of the Oceans Fishing Club, traveling throughout the United
States pursuing his passion for fishing.

Nathaniel was also a devoted member of Alcoholics Anonymous for more than 20 years, serving as a sponsor and, at times, a group leader. He was always available to lend a helping hand,
day or night, to those navigating their recovery journey. His compassion, encouragement, and dedication touched many lives. He also loved remodeling and performing maintenance projects around his home until he was no longer able to do so.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Julia Hill; his brothers, Roosevelt “Shag” Hendricks and Perry “Sweet” Hill; his sisters, Amanda Hayes, Mary “Dobbie” McClelland,
Clara Hill, and Barbara “Jean” Hill; his granddaughter, Nalieta Hill; his grandson, Keenan Hawkins; his beloved aunt, Dinah Thompson; his beloved brother-in-law, Jimmy “Toosie” Hayes; his former wives, Linda G. and Mary T.; and his former fiancée, Vera Howell.

Nathaniel leaves to cherish his memory his devoted daughters, Natalie (Marqus) Sparks, who faithfully served as his caregiver, and Jeannine (Anthony) Peterson; and his sons, Rodney
(Lashonda) Howell, Matthew (Arica) Thomas, and Paul (Cynthia) Thomas.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anthony “AJ” Peterson, Jr., Kyvona Thompson, Kyaris (Raashad) Edwards, Antinique Hill, Kaliyah Hawkins, Marlie Howell, Kendall Hawkins,
Rodney “RJ” Howell, Jr. and Kaiden Howell; his great-grandsons, Kaiden, Kenan, and Omari Edwards; and his great-granddaughter, RiLynn Edwards.

Additional survivors include his step-sisters, Alfredia Weston and Voncile Williams; his sisters-in-law, Florence Hendricks and Gloria Hill; his special cousin, Susie Jackson of Forkland, Alabama; his special nephew, Charles Hayes of Evanston, Illinois; and his special friends, Cheryl, Bill, Irving, and Ira. He is also survived by many nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, friends, former coworkers, and acquaintances who will forever cherish his memory.

Nathaniel’s faith was an important part of his life and a foundation that sustained him through both joyful and challenging times. He believed in God’s grace, the power of prayer, and the
importance of helping others. Through his service to family, friends, and those in recovery, he demonstrated Christ-like compassion and a willingness to serve others without hesitation. His legacy of faith, love, kindness, and selflessness will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.
