Norma Jean Smith gained her wings on December 26th, 2023 at the age of 87. She was born on January 9th,1936 to Luther and Virginia Hill Patterson in Columbus, Ohio. Norma was the second oldest of four children.
During her free time she loved to play the organ and keyboard, because it gave her memories of her childhood when she took piano lessons. She also loved sipping her coffee, drawing, listening to music, and spending time with her family. Many people adored Norma’s latest fashions and infectious laugh she had that could make anyone smile.
Norma was a loving wife to Joe Smith for 49 years. She was also a mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, an aunt and a staple in her Southfield community where she resided for over 60 years.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents Luther and
Virgina Hill Patterson, her loving husband Joe Smith, son Norman Smith, daughter-in-law Janet Smith, bonus son James “Jesse” Smith, sister Phillis Everett and brothers Donald and Richard Patterson.
Norma leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Patricia Smith; sons, Kenneth Smith and Kelvin Smith; grandchildren, Joseph Smith, Lamar Smith, Kiara Watson, Kenneth Gregory, Antwan Gregory, Janell Smith, Jonathan Smith, Alonzo Mcbrown, Rayshawn Leftwich, Bonnie Haggins, Jessica Walters, and Tonya Burke; and a host of great and great-great-
