Obituary

A TIME TO BE BORN: King Ollie E Sowell Sr. was born on December 12, 1961, in Columbus, Ohio to his beloved mother Pearl E. Sowell, and father; Paul Smith.

Ollie prided himself on being an amazing father/grandpa/Paw Paw and being a family- oriented person. Ollie was all about his 5 children, and he always stressed the importance of family.

A TIME TO LIVE: Ollie graduated from South High School and had technical education in Auto Mechanic he had a passion for fixing cars. Ollie was also a veteran with the Army National Guard. Ollie worked in the home health field as well as the Mental Health field as a caretaker and was then promoted to Direct Care Supervisor at Goodwill Columbus. Ollie was passionate about everyone he took care of in life. Especially his children and a host of bonus children. Ollie was a vital part of a lot of people’s lives. When you needed a ride, you knew you could call him. Ollie was Mr. Dependable, he could get you to work two hours early. Ollie’s health issues were a part of his life, but he did not let them define him. Ollie was a kidney recipient, and a double amputee. He was a motivation to all he knew. Ollie would often say “Giving up ain’t a part of my DNA” he never complained. Ollie drove a regular car with both feet, could rigg your car to keep you rolling. He was very witty and intelligent in many ways.


Ollie enjoyed listening to his old school music, driving out of town and spending time with his children/grandchildren. Ollie also accepted Christ as his personal Lord and Savior and attended Mount Carmel Worship underneath his longtime partner and friend who became his pastor. Pastor Sonny Walker .

A TIME TO LOVE: He is Survived by his 5 Beautiful Children Kieanna Cottrell, Barbara D. Sowell, Ollie E. Sowell Jr. Tyris, and Tyron Sowell. Grandchildren Quishaun, Indyah Nia, Ramiah, Rashau, Aniyah, Mariyah, Samyah, Isaac, Aaron, Kendrick and Liliana. Sibling’s brothers Michael (Shonna) and Eric Sowell, Jamil Young, and sister Barbara Young. Stepchildren Izetta, Angelo, Anthony, Micheal, Benjamin, Randall, Christopher Jordan, Shamecia, Cernitha, Larry, Dominic, Rayonia, Alissia, Gene, Cameron, and Mary a host of Step Grandchildren, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and a host of Friends.


A TIME TO DEPART: Ollie flew into the arms of the Lord on April 24, 2023 where he landed softly on the clouds in front of the heavenly gates to be with his mother and a host of
other ancestors on the other side to glory.
