PEGGY JOYCE SLOCUMB DOTSON was born to the late Charlie and Earlene Hill-Slocumb in Columbus, Georgia, on April 30, 1951. She departed this life on October 1, 2021. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her children, Michael Bowens, Jr., and Debbie Joyce Bowens; and siblings, Howard Lee Slocumb, Sr., Judy Hall, Sandra Russ, and Kay Curry.
As a child, she joined Royal Priesthood Holiness Church. She rededicated her life to the Lord and was a current member of New Beginning Christian Center under the leadership of Pastor Charles Leister. She graduated from William Spencer High School in 1971. She was employed with Defense Financial and Accounting Services (DFAS), where she was an Accounting Technician for over 20 years of service.
She was united in holy matrimony with Herb Dotson of Reynoldsburg, OH, for 20 years.
She leaves to cherish: a loving husband of 20 years, Herb Dotson; one loving daughter, Tyvika Bowens of Reynoldsburg, OH; one stepson, Broderick (Natascha) of Morrisville, NC; seven doting grandsons, Daryl (Amayrah) Bowens of Decatur, GA, Orvon Bowens of Seattle, WA, Donta Bowens of Columbus, OH, Sebastian Thornton ll of Houston, TX, Umariyo Bowens, Sr., of Columbus, OH, Trevon Bowens, and Keshaun Bowens, both of San Antonio, TX; one loving granddaughter, Tynise Bowens of Columbus, OH; four bonus grandchildren, Thyrese Crump, Ky’anna Crump, Ny’Kayla Crump, and Dyvante Crump, all of Morrisville, NC; 14 great-grandchildren whom she adored; two brothers, Karl L. (Bonnie) Slocumb of Indianapolis, IN, and Bernard Thornton of Macon, GA; one sister, Myrtis Fennell of Columbus, GA; one sister-in-law, Milo Slocumb of Fayetteville, NC; five brothers-in-law, Jesse Curry of Columbus, GA, Johnny Hall of Oklahoma City, OK, Douglas Russ of Fayetteville, NC, Robert (Shirley) Dotson, Jr. and Frank Dotson all of San Francisco, CA; one aunt, Gladys Slocumb of Atlanta, GA; and
a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
