Rebecca McElroy Obituary

Rebecca was born on November 5, 1944, in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, to the late Lula and Fred Marshall. She graduated from Lincoln Heights High School (NC) in 1962. "Becky," as she was affectionately known, moved to Columbus, Ohio, in September of 1964, where she met a young steelworker (and admitted love of her life) named Santaniel "Chief" McElroy. They were married on March 30, 1966, and welcomed their only son, Darrin L. McElroy, on May 22, 1966.

Rebecca was preceded in death by her husband of 47 1/2 years on February 7, 2012.

Becky worked in the field of Frame Inspection for the Western Electric Company For 8 years. From there, she worked at the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company, where she spent 21 years, eventually retiring in December,1999. Becky had four brothers: Thomas Lee Triplett, Fred Triplett, John H. Triplett, and Buddy Triplett, all of whom preceded her in death.

Becky is survived by her only son, Darrin, and many nieces and nephews in both Columbus, Ohio, and North Carolina. She leaves MANY cherished family and special friends (both old and new): Mrs. Ruth Hill, Mrs. Amanda "Evelyn" McBroom, Mrs. Jeanette Lawrence, Ms. Ann Ford, Mrs. Celcia Rivers, Mrs. Eva Eldridge, Mr. Kenneth Hill, Mrs. Tonette Kennedy, and Mrs. Edna Addy-Diggs and SO MANY MORE, too numerous to list, but they know who they are. (Please forgive me if your name was not mentioned, but please know that you ALL held a special place in her heart).

Rebecca was a very hard worker, a loving person, and wanted to love and protect everyone she touched. She could make you laugh and cry at the same time. Becky was an excellent cook and homemaker (she could clean a house like nobody's business)! She was completely devoted to her beloved pets, and none of them ever went 1 day lacking for food or love and affection. Becky was one-of-a-kind; a special lady with a heart for those in-need...and will be sorely missed.

Rest in peace, Sweet Lady
