Rita McFalls Obituary

Rita was born in Memphis, Texas and later relocated to Columbus, Ohio. She graduated from Linden McKinley High School in 1989 and received a degree in Nursing from Columbus Para Professional Institute. Rita was employed by Stanley Steamer, Frito Lay, and Ameriflora. After graduating, she was offered a position at OSU Family Practice, which she declined due to loss of her vision.

Rita was oldest child and grandchild, which explains why she was a natural born leader. She received her wings after a life long battle of different illnesses. She endured over 20 years of of dialysis and blindness. She was courageous and resilient taking everything head on. Rita accepted Christ as her Savior before her departure from this life.

Rita loved entertaining and hanging with friends while listening to music and playing cards and dominoes. She was funny and there was never a dull moment. Rita had a listening ear and good advice to give. She was resourceful and dependable always available and willing to do what she could.

Rita, aka “Sugga,” loved and cherished her children and grandchildren. The oldest grandchild, Shuantel had a very special relationship with her Sugga. Rita taught her everything she could. Although Rita was ill, she was always willing to spend time with her grandchildren.

Rita was preceded in death by her grandmother, Juanita Howard; aunt, Patricia Howard; father, Ronnel McFalls; godsons, Erion Burk and Marvin Stewart, Jr.; and life long sister-friend, Sherry Mackey, who she loved dearly.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Dwight Mitchell, Jr.; daughter, Daneisha Mitchell; father of her children, Dwight Mitchell, Sr.; bonus children, Melvon Cannady and Devonte Greathouse; grandchildren, Shuantel, Dwight, Damiyah and Da’shaun; mother, Betty McFalls brother, Tony McFalls; sister, Lashonda Shelley; godparents, Felicia Lacey-Ward (Leon) and Marvin Stewart, Sr.; closest friends, Sandra Cole, Karen Moss, Lolitta Leavell, Anna Taylor, Ronda Gray, Charlotte Shaw, and Christopher Walton; and a host of family friends
