Obituary

A time to be born Robin Terressa Green was born March 16, 1961 in Columbus, Ohio. She is the younger of two children from the union of Shirley Jean Massey and Robert George Horsley. Her older sister is Valentia Coman.

A time to live Robin’s spiritual roots were developed in the Church Of God In Christ. Her passion for youth ministry developed during her days in COGIC. In 2002 Robin, her family and a core group of believers were led by God to establish New Horizons Christian Fellowship under the leadership of her husband Pastor Phillip A. Green. Over the years she established after school
programs, computer programs for elderly, employment service classes, health fairs and so many other ministries.

She graduated Valedictorian from East High School went on to obtain her Bachelors of Business Administration from Ohio Dominican and Master’s in Public Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.  Robin was called and mandated by God to be a change agent and to advocate those for those who have lost their voice.

She was a passionate community servant with the ability to motivate and inspire individuals in identifying their potential to continue and share this passion to serve others. With this ongoing quest to give, she was able to promote significant, positive change in communities and individuals through advocacy and was empowered by compassion.

Robin has served in numerous capacities throughout her career in the City of Columbus most notably including Nationwide Insurance, secretary of a number of schools throughout the Columbus Public School System, OSU Extension, Indiana Wesleyan University, Per Scholas of Columbus as well as directing programs within local congregations including New Horizons Christian Fellowship. Robin was a founding member of X-Clusive Empowerment Network and attended every event and was always willing to help wherever needed. 

Robin has been in the non-profit sector for over 19 years. During this time, she has created programs to assist individuals in impoverished area that are less fortunate to obtain employment skills through technology and returning to school to obtain a higher level of education. Her most recent position and passion work lead her to become the Director of the COMPASS Program where she assisted individuals who are less fortunate with obtaining funds to keep housing or other emergency need. 

During the most recent pandemic with the increase in homelessness Robin and her team successfully secured over a million dollars in funding to prevent evictions and provide emergency relief.

A time to love While beloved by her community she was affectionately know by her family as Mommy, GG, Bethel, Baby Sister, DIVA, Auntie and most appreciated for the abundance of unconditional love and care shown to in anyone who crosses her path.

At the age of 13 Robin met the love of her life her husband of 41 years Pastor Phillip A. Green From this union they created four beautiful children and the apples of her eyes her two grandchildren.

Robin was proceeded in death by father Robert George Horsley and sister-in Eleanor Green, special cousin Carol “Sam” Caldwell and special Aunt Zeollie “Zee” Morgan.

She leaves to cherish her memory husband Pastor Phillip A. Green, daughters Melodi Green, Felice Wilson, sons Nathan and Edward Green. Grandson Julian Green granddaughter Savanah Wilson. Mother Shirley Jean Massey, sister Valentia “Punkin” (Warren) Coman, honorary sister Janeé Jenkins. Mother in-law Evelyn Green, Brother in-laws Edward “Ed” (Valetta) Green, Elrich “Pete”(Barbara) Green, Kenneth “Kenny” (Francis) Green and Sister in-law Ethelyn “Effie” Green. Nieces Denise Pace, Jessica Green, Jasmine Green, Kristina Green, Courtney Coman, Kathleen Coman. Nephews Gregory Green, Johnathan Green, Warren Coman II., Marcus Green, Jordan (Heather) Green, Kenneth (Celeste) Green and Kevin Green. God children Sherrick (Toni) Corbin,
Monica Oden, Lauren Elliott, Chelsea Miller, Donisha Hines, Isiah Adams, Aunts Hattie Harville, Mable Calhoun and Uncle Joseph Massey. A host of great nieces and nephews, relatives and close friends.

A time to depart…First Lady Robin Green flew softly in the arms of God on August 16, 2023 where “She Made It Home and Could Finally Rest”
