Ronald Gene Logan was born on January 23, 1949, to Robert Logan, Sr., and Ellie Mae Logan in Jacksonville, FL. The youngest of eleven, Ron was affectionately known by his parents and siblings as “Peewee.” He was well-known for helping others, his fondness for animals, and his quick-witted sense of humor. Ronald took his rest on the morning of August 17, 2024, in Columbus, Ohio.
Ron attended school in Detroit, MI, and completed his high school education in Brooklyn, New York. As a teenager, he developed a love for clothing and fashion and worked in the New York fashion district before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1970. He served honorably as a combat veteran in the Vietnam War with a primary specialty in aircraft maintenance and received training as an airplane mechanic and technician. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant NCO (Senior Airman) in 1974.
He was an employee of the Columbus public schools and retired as a custodian with 30 years of service in 2017. He enjoyed music, westerns, Family Feud, sharing snacks with his dogs, Marlie and Fran (“The Girls”), looking at fashion trends, collecting specialty men’s clothing and accessories, playing bid whist and “acey deucey” (backgammon), watching history documentaries, listening to Louis Farrakhan, and spending time with family and loved ones.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Logan, Sr., and Ellie Mae Logan; grandparents, James Logan and Mary J. London Logan; siblings, James “JC” Logan, Andrew “AC” Logan, Josie “Gloria” L. Logan, Helen Ethel Logan Monroe, Roland “Keith” Logan, Robert Logan, Jr., Janice J. Carr, Altomese Nesmith, Connell “Connie” Logan Ellis, and his twin, Donald D. Logan; nieces, Gail Heard and Lyndonna Logan; nephews, Gregory Carr and Lawrence Logan; and best friend, Garey Henderson.
He is survived by his children, Ronald Logan, Veronica (Tarik McLendon) Logan, and Yolanda Logan; Honorary daughter, Marie Simpson; grandchildren, Christopher Logan, Naiyema Logan, Precious Brown, and Amaré McLendon; close nieces and nephew, Jewel White, Brenda Monroe, Faye Bruning, Je’Anna Logan, Teresa Croom, and Christopher Carr; sister-in-love, Marsha Brown-Logan; and a host of other relatives and sorrowing loved ones.
