Ronald Lee McElroy was born May 25, 1940, and departed this life peacefully on November 19, 2022. Ronald Lee McElroy, affectionately known to some as Ron or Ronnie, loved life to its fullest. Ron grew up on Highland Avenue on the westside of Columbus, Ohio, with seven siblings. He attended Central High School.
Ron was a people person. He was very charming he absolutely loved music. His charm, stage presence, and silky-smooth voice won the heart of Donna Jean. The two then became one, and to this union, two beautiful children were born.
The love he had for music ran through the family; he and his two favorite cousins, Carolyn Williams “Pug” and Francis Kirk “Sweetpea,” sang together in a group. Ron ABSOLUTELY LOVED The Temptations, so much so that he formed his own group in the ‘60s: the very well-known Premieres, of which Ron was the lead singer, of course. Two of their greatest hits were “She’s Always
There” and “I Am Better Off Now Than I Was Before.” He was very musically inclined, which was passed down to all three of his children as well as his grandchildren, leaving a legacy of music.
Ron was an avid believer of Jehovah and would often be found reading, studying, or spreading the word. He loved talking about the good news of Jehovah. Even in his sickness, he was eager to learn as well as teach. HE was a WISE TEACHER.
Ron loved fitness and eating healthy—his favorite dish was a huge garden salad with Italian dressing. He loved outdoor nature walking, bike riding, and fishing, and he had a love for animals.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elma McElroy; brother, Vincent McElroy; and three sisters, Shirley Honesty, Barbara Woodwork, and Maxine Shields.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughters, Rhonda McElroy and Rainica Mullins; only son, Marlon McElroy; sisters, Joanne (Joe) Morrison, Wanda Ray, and Brother Paul (Patria) McElroy; grandchildren, Jonathan Franklin, Marlon McElroy, Jr., Aaliyah Washington, Frankeesha Linville, Briauna Linville, and Jovan Linville, Sr.; fifteen great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews,
cousins, and friends.
