Rosa Lee Johnson

Mother Rosa Lee Johnson was born January 11, 1937, in Mayhan, West Virginia to Mr. William & Mrs. Cornelius Kimbro. She peacefully departed this life, on March 2, 2024, entering the joy of the Lord.

Rosa married James Mennifield, Sr., in 1960 until his death. She stayed in Columbus, Ohio, where she raised her family and began working at Mt. Carmel West where she met her second husband, Telford Johnson.  They were married in 1973 until his death in 1989. Rosa was also a caregiver of her mother, Cora. 

Throughout all the tragic loss Rosa had in her lifetime. She never lost hope. She never lost her faith, but most of all she never lost her praise. Even in her sickness, she continued to laugh, smile, talk about the Lord and give God all the praise.

Rosa was a member/Mother at Higher Ground always abounding Assemblies for over 40 years, but often attended church with daughter at the Temple of Compassion.

Before she fell ill in 2009, Rosa loved going out to eat, hanging out with friends (Mrs. Debbie, Mrs. Edna, and Mrs. Eula) and family, going shopping, watching soap operas and cowboy movies.
She was an excellent cook and her family loved to gather for holidays, birthdays, or just because. Rosa was very generous and open with her life, and when she laughed her whole body would
giggle so whoever was around her couldn’t help but laugh with her.

She loved gospel music and playing her tambourine, clapping her hands, and sometimes crying when the song touched her heart.  All who knew her had wonderful thoughts and memories of how
she was a blessing. Her words, her wisdom, her laughter, her food, her voice, her smile had a way of leaving a lasting and blessed impression to all those who knew her or even crossed her path.  Especially her encouragement to others. Rosa was just that way, her love for others was enormous, genuine, and precious. She will be dearly missed by many!

She is preceded in death by her husband, Telford Johnson.  Children: Tony Mennifield, Larry Mennifield, Paula Mennifield Kaylynn Mennifield, William Johnson, Teddy Johnson, Carolyn
Williams. Grandchildren: Willie Kimbo, Jr., Teddy Johnson Jr., Katina Banks.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Jana (Don) Anderson, Latosha Waters, Sons: Willie (Sue) Kimbo, Sr. and James Mennifield, Jr. Special Granddaughter Tosha Renee. Sister In Laws: Lillie Kimbo and Nora Kimbo, with a host of many other Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Family and Friends.
