Shannon Cooper Obituary

Shannon Cooper, born on February 22, 1956, to Dora Cooper and Alfred Monroe, peacefully departed from this world on Monday, December 18, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Shannon obtained his education through the esteemed Columbus City School system. Following his passion for service, he dedicated 20 years of his life to the United States Navy, proudly serving our country. Upon retiring from the Navy, Shannon settled in San Diego, California, where he successfully owned and operated his own restaurant. Later, he made the heartfelt decision to return home to Columbus, Ohio, to be reunited with his beloved mother, siblings, and extended family.

A man of many talents and interests, Shannon took great pleasure in cooking, fishing, entertaining, and cherishing moments spent with his loved ones. His magnetic personality and warm heart
endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Shannon was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Wildonna Hollaway, Ruth Blake, and Priscilla Smith; as well as his daughter, Shanleah; and grandson, Jo’vahon Ross.

He is survived by his cherished daughter, Shannon Bailey “Kick-It buddy Steph water” and devoted siblings, Sara (Cliff) Arline, Rose Marshall, Freda Callahan. He will be lovingly remembered by
his special niece and nephews, Mary Mewborn-Broadus, Charlie “Shannon” (Carla) Smith, Price (Alicia) Smith, and Elvin Cooper, Shannon’s best friend, Lewis Moore, was a constant source of
companionship and support throughout his life. Additionally, he leaves behind a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever treasure his
