Shantia Corbin Obituary

Shantia Mone’t “Shan” Corbin was born February 15, 1988 in Columbus, Ohio to Michael Corbin and Lea Smith. She was the first born child. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, James Earl Corbin.

When Shan was born it was evident that she would be a rising start. All through her life she continued to be radiant and bright. Shantia’s personality was bigger than life and she had a gift for making you listen to what she had to say. She was quite outspoken and would share what was on her mind. As the first-born child, she always cared for her younger siblings, with motherly love and was very family oriented.

 She received her formal education at Columbus City Schools and other educational institutions. Shantia accepted Christ at a very young age and remained a faithful follower for the rest of her life. Shantia found and married the love of her life, Mel Peterson.

Shan was a very outgoing and compassionate person and she always had a good word for friends and family alike. No matter what she went through she always encouraged others. She enjoyed doing all kinds of things, such as, shopping, fishing, and other recreational things, but her greatest pastime was music, in any form, whether it was singing or rapping. She was well known as “Shan Bandz” in the City of Columbus. She was very creative and business minded.  She was the Owner of Customz Cartel where she designed clothing and shoes. People like the clothing and admired her for being innovative and her flare for the finer things.

Shan was a great mother and loved her children dearly. She leaves behind five beautiful children, Treshon, Miracle, Jeffrey, Jemiriae and Ramoni all of which she was proud. She taught her children to speak their mind and she was very close to them. She believed in being honest and open in life and keeping it real as she raised them in a very real world. Shantia was a great aunt to her nieces, Lauren & Kali and nephews, Michael, Ashton & Glen

After fighting a tough fight through Faith, the Lord called Shan Home on June 15, 2020. She leaves to cherish her love and memory her husband, Mel; her mother, Lea Smith; father, Michael Corbin Jr.; her brothers, Michael Corbin III, Sincere, Champion, Kingston, Darion, Truthful, Chaz, and Princeton; her sisters, Lexus, Michal, Mykesha, Justice, and Merci Corbin; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, her great grandmother, Alice Lester, who she was very close to. In addition, Shan  eaves an exceptional amount of friends who she cherished.

Shantia was raised with one of her cousins, Brandon Holston who she loved like a brother. She is sending a special birthday shout out to him today from above;

Shantia will be remembered and cherished forever….
