Shaun Houston-Bey Obituary

Shaun's life would seem short to many, but those of us who were blessed by his presence understand the impact his existence and the imprint he left on our lives.

He was born on January 20, 1981 in Longbranch, New Jersey to Ms Yvette Houston-Bey and Mr. Keith Mitchell. He grew up in Bronx, New York and attended Theodore Roosevelt HS in Bronx, New York. Shaun moved to Ohio in 2014 where he currently resided, but always loved his roots. He attended Columbus State Community College studying Culinary Arts. He was an active member of The Worship Center of Central Ohio where he was baptized and attended.

He was preceded in death by Maternal Grandmother Margaret Houston-Bey, sister Martina Houston-Bey, and Great Uncles Raymond “Teeny” Comer and Uncle Richard “Fasty” Comer whom he loved and missed very much.

He leaves to cherish his memory his Mother Yvette Houston-Bey, Father Keith Mitchell, the love of his life/fiancé’ Kamesha Reed, sons Stephon Houston-Bey, Deiondre Thomas Reed, Quandez Thomas Reed, daughter Kenyatta Provens Reed, sister Sabrina Mitchell and brothers Terrance Sudler Jr. And Keith Mitchell Jr., nieces Makayla, Briana, Brielle, Bria Bella nephews Shane and Shawn. Special cousins Ali Harvey and Akbar Bernard, Aunt Chrystal, extended Reed family as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Shaun loved his music, sneakers, reading, cooking and BBQing. He showed his love through cooking and that he could do, with dreams of one day having his own food truck.
His wings were ready although our hearts were not, hold on to the memories as they will last forever. His life will be celebrated with a private service and his final resting place will be in New Jersey with a memorial tribute celebration.
