Sir S.L. Pegues, Jr. Obituary

SIR SYLVESTER LEE PEGUES, JR. age 59, closed his eyes and opened them in the presence of the Lord on Sunday, January 2, 2022. He was born October 12, 1962 in Plattsburgh, New York, to Sylvester L. Pegues, Sr. and Mary L. Pegues.

He attended and graduated from Peru Central High School and went on to college earning degrees in engineering and psychology.

After leaving Plattsburgh in the 1980s he moved near New York City where he became a father and landed a dancing spot on MTVs hit show "Club Mtv" with Downtown Julie Brown. He loved being a father, singing and dancing and everyone knew it.

The onset of health challenges led him to leave New York and head west.

In September 1997 he made Columbus, Ohio his home and became a passionate Buckeye Football and Crew Soccer Fan! He was also a New Orleans Saints fan.

In December 1997 he accepted and confessed Jesus Christ his Lord and was water baptized at Bibleway Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ. He then found True Vine Ministries where his gift of playing bass guitar manifested.

In his free time he found ways to impact community. He volunteered at The Crew Stadium, played bass guitar at different churches and was a committee member of The COC (formerly Christians Overcoming Cancer) Hairstyles and Beauty for Hope Campaign.

Along with singing, dancing, volunteering and playing the bass, he enjoyed bowling but he loved to let his hair down and ride his motorcycle.

With his long dreads in the wind he loved to be on the road. He loved it so much that he pursued and earned the right to be a brother of "Twisted Breed" Motorcycle Club.

He was also very entrepreneurial minded. He supported and started traditional and non-traditional service based businesses that impacted the lives of many.

He was preceded in death by both parents, Sylvester and Mary Pegues, Sr., brother Charles Lee Pegues, paternal grandparents James Cary Pegues, and Ophelia Pegues Jones, maternal grandparents Douglas Walton and Lucille (Cotton) Walton, nephew Christopher Lee Pegues, brother-in-love Joseph Mark Jenkins, uncles James "Governor" Pegues, Jr., Douglas Walton, Jr. and Leroy Jones, aunts Lina May (Pete) Pegues Lee, Ida Mae (Goodness) Pegues Washington, Agnes Jones Pollard, Josephine (Wincey) Jones, Ophelia (Queenie) Jones Simmons, and Phyllis Jones, cousins Ray (Rocky) Washington and Sharon Lee and almost brother-in-love Arthur Loatman.
