Tana Colbert

Tana Mitsis Lee Colbert was born June 18, 1969 to Everett Lee and Sarah Ellease Colbert in Des Moines, Iowa. Tana departed this life on Friday, December 10, 2021, while surrounded by family at Grant Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Tana was the youngest of 16 children. She grew up on  the westside of Columbus near Sullivant Gardens, and graduated from South High School. She was the mother of Jalessa Whiteside and DeAndre Watters. They blessed her with 8 beautiful grandchildren who she would do anything for. Nana loved her grandbabies beyond compare!

As a younger woman Tana worked many years at Hair World. As you can see, she never lost her love for hair! She was also employed over the last 15+ years as a Nanny, and Customer Service Rep at Ohio Tuition Trust Authority/CollegeAdvantage, JCPenney and Luxottica.

Tana had a big beautiful smile, and although she was a feisty one, she loved her family. She enjoyed hanging with her grands, shopping, going to the movies, paint and sips, reading “Romance” novels, watching dramas, reality and National Geographic on TV, and did we mention shopping?! lol!! 

Tana attended and enjoyed the Worship experience at New Birth for some time before she joined. On December 31, 2013 she gave her life back to Christ and got Baptized. She was so excited to be a part of the fellowship. We know she is dancing and singing with the Angels and her loved ones  in heaven, as they welcome her home.

Tana departed from us on Friday, December 10, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents : Everett Lee Colbert and Sarah Ellease Colbert; Brothers: Donald “Governor “ Colbert, Eltarro Colbert, Steven Colbert, El Gene Moore Jr.; Sister: Tana Colbert 1

She leaves to cherish her memories: Daughter: Jalessa Whiteside; Son: DeAndre Watters Sr.; Bonus Daughter: Lehnniah "Courtney" Jackson; Brothers: Everett Lee (Margo) Colbert Sr., Isaiah Parker, Lorenzo (Felice) Colbert, Henry Colbert, Mark (Diane) Colbert; Sisters: Sherrie Johnson, Pakalia Beck, Lee Ann (Stephanie) Colbert, Jewell Colbert, Nora Wynn; Grandchildren: Treshawn Whiteside, Richard Whiteside III, Nasir Watters, Jourdyn Whiteside, Peyton Watters, Deandre Watters Jr., Phoeynx Watters, Paige Watters; Bonus Grands: Ke’lonie Whiteside-Bolding, Terry Jackson-Obo; Sistas: Angela McCormick, Shauna Linen and Many other family and friends.
