Theodore A. Simms, III, a man’s man who worked with his hands, finally found rest from all his labors. The 64-year-old Fremont-native, known to most as Tony, died on Sunday, December 6, 2020 in Columbus, OH. After having battled MS for many years, Tony is reunited with his parents, Theodore II and Hester (Weatherford) Simms Colatruglio. They first welcomed him into this life on October 6, 1956, now they welcome him again into their company to rest in eternal peace.
Tony, the consummate jokester, graduated from Fremont Ross High School in 1975. A blue-collar kind of guy, he worked many different jobs that included spending time as a laborer in the trucking and automotive industries. In his spare time, Tony enjoyed comic books and science fiction, fishing, chess, and of course, Ohio State football. Even as MS stole more and more of his physical capacities, Tony never stopped loving the things he loved, or enjoying as much of life as he could.
Tony is survived by his children Jada Price of Atlanta, GA, Yolanda Simms of Fremont, OH, Dominique (Josh) Akpore of Fort Madison, IA, and Elon (Wynette) Simms of Columbus, OH; grandchildren Mercedes, Alexus, Alonte, Kali, Jaxon, Kira, Jace, Carter, and Caden; great grandchildren Dameyion, Dorien, Dominik, Kyrah, and Leah; sisters Linda (Ervin) McBeth of Fostoria, OH; Pamela Simms of Columbus, OH; and Lori Young, of Canton, OH; brothers Tyrone Simms of Findlay, OH; and Eric Simms of Nashville, TN; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife Rita Lincoln-Simms, parents, and siblings Dawn and Jeffrey.
