Tyla Monique Johnson, known as “Ty” to her friends, was born on May 2, 1974, to Etta “Jean” Johnson on November 5, 2024. Tyla was called home to be with the Lord unexpectedly. Tyla was such a happy person who was very outgoing, very outspoken, and loved listening to music. Her favorite snack was chips and favorite food was hamburgers. She would call just to say, “I’m okay,
bring me something to eat.” Tyla was crazy about her grandson. He did no wrong in her eyes. Tyla grew up at 1041 Franklin and 52 Latta, but you would catch her at Blackburn, etc., throughout her childhood life. Tyla encountered many people who grew to love her as she became more like family rather than a friend.
Tyla was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Idella Tarrant; grandmother, Clara Johnson; grandfather, Alphonzo Oliver; mother, Etta Johnson; aunt, Wanda Johnson; uncles, Carl Beel, LeRoy Beel, Nathaniel Johnson, William Johnson and Robert Johnson; nephew, Tony “Tuggie” Johnson; and cousins, Robert Johnson and Delvonna Carter. Left to cherish Tyla’s memory are: her daughter, Ashley Monique Johnson; grandson, Ashton Eggerson; granddaughter (on the way), Le’Vayah Tyla’Jae; four siblings, Anthony “Big Tone” Johnson, Laquise Johnson, Laqayshen Johnson, and Taylen Johnson; sisters-in-law, Yalonda Hester; aunts, Pastor Niecy Johnson, Pauletta Johnson, and Jamie Carter; uncle, Charles Johnson; two nephews, Tavon Hester and Travon Hester; one niece, Tiaonna Johnson; many great-nieces and nephews, and cousins; close cousin, Dorika Carter; and a host of other family and friends. We love and appreciate you all. Tyla will be
truly missed.
