Tyrone “Tyty” David Edwards, was born in Columbus, Ohio, on January 8, 1962, to David Clark-Edwards and Sarita Johnston-Edwards. Tyrone passed away on February 4, 2025, at Grant Hospital. Tyrone will be greatly missed, but now his soul is at peace!
Tyrone had dreams of becoming a professional boxer, like his father, and he worked various jobs. He accomplished many goals within his lifetime. Some of his proudest moments consist of: fighting in the Golden Gloves Tournaments in Columbus, Ohio; earning his General Education Equivalency diploma; and accepting God as his savior and obtaining his Pastoral Certificate. Tyrone loved the outdoors, swimming, and cheering on the Pittsburg Steelers and Ohio State Buckeyes. He had hopes of one day attending a Pittsburg Steelers game. His later years were spent enjoying the latest movies at home, watching his favorite TV station, MeTV, watching old black and white shows, such as “Gun Smoke,” “Death Valley Days,” and “Leave it to Beaver” while eating his favorite snacks: candy, Grippos Potato Chips, and a cold one. Most of all he enjoyed laughing, spending time with his family, and playing with his dog, Princess.
Tyrone was preceded in death by his parents, David Clark-Edwards and Sarita Johnston-Edwards; maternal grandparents, Van Buren and Virginia Johnston; paternal grandparents; sister, Trena Edwards-Barron; nieces, Kellee and Tia Hendricks, and Brandi Milbry; great-niece, Taliah Hendricks; and great-nephew, Tyron Hendricks.
Those left to cherish Tyrone’s memory are Tyrone’s son, Robert Thompson; brothers, Thomas (Monica) Hendricks, Tracy Edwards, and Tajuan Edwards; sisters, Tonya Williams, Tammy (Fredd) Milbry, Tyra (Robert) Moore, and Twila (Johnathan) Bolden; his favorite great- nephew, Christian Williams; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, great-nephews, great-nieces, and friends.
Thanks to the staff at Grant Hospital for taking care of Tyrone in his final days.
