Vincent D. Baez

Vincent Duane Baez was born on August 10, 1982. He was the second of three children born to Dorothy and Ramon Baez. Vincent also shared his birthday with his father, Ramon, who is now deceased.  Vincent attended the New York City Public School System. He graduated with honors from the GED program. Vincent later attended Columbus State Community College in Columbus, Ohio.  He majored in heating and cooling systems. 

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, after 9/11, Vincent, as a very young man, uprooted with his family and moved to Columbus, Ohio. In Ohio, Vincent reunited with his aunts, cousins, brother, and grandparents to start a new life. He found employment with several different companies and he wore many different hats. Some of the positions he held were supervisor, manager, trainer, warehouse worker, and butcher, to name a few.

Vincent was a family man. More than anything, he loved, adored, and cherished his family. He was a jokester and life of the party to many.  There was never a dull moment when he was around. He definitely would make you laugh and smile over and over. Vincent was also a thinker and a problem solver. We sometimes teased him because he would overthink. He was determined to get you an answer to whatever was troubling you.

On March 13, 2022, Vincent spent the evening with some of his children and his special friend and companion, Tamara Caldwell.  He insisted on taking them to dinner that evening. They were able to spend precious family time together before they went to the restaurant to eat. Everyone ate and was full. After leaving the restaurant with full bellies, the family would head home so that they could prepare for work and school the next day. Upon arriving home, Vincent did not appear to be feeling well. Everyone was put to bed for the night. Vincent, at some point that night, had to be taken by paramedics to Mount Carmel East Emergency Room. His condition was serious and he was later declared unresponsive, then pronounced dead, March 15,2022.

Vincent leaves to mourn: his mother, Dorothy Baez; his sister, Sharise Baez-Messiah (Rashaun); his brother, Ramon Baez; his children, Vincent D. Baez, Vincent A.Z. Baez, Nyomi Baez, Caela, Samara Baez, Tamara Baez, Brooklyn, Gabrielle, Zariah, Lori Ann, and Ean; stepchildren, godchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and a host of friends from New York, Connecticut, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida and Columbus, Ohio.
