Virginia Blueford Obituary

Mother Virginia Lucille Hutson Blueford was born October 27, 1932, to proud parents, Carl and Margaret Hutson. A graduate of Central High School, Mother Blueford retired from The Easter Seals Corporation after 25 years of service.

Mother Blueford began attending St. Matthew Fire Baptized Holiness Church at the age of 10 years old. At the age of 14, she gave her life to the Lord and was saved under Pastor E. M. Anderson. Even at the young age of 14, Mother Blueford never looked back but stayed with the Lord and worked diligently in her home church.

Mother Blueford served in many capacities as the church finance secretary and church clerk and as president of the HYPU and Senior Mission. She also served on the Trustee Board, Mother Board, and as a member of the Interdenominational Association of Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows sector in Columbus, Ohio.

Mother Blueford met Elder Willie Blueford, her soulmate of 70 years, while both were employed at the Mills Restaurant in Downtown Columbus. They were united in marriage on August 29, 1951. To this union two children were born: daughter, Cheryl Lynn, and son, Stephen Carl. Mother Blueford served as First Lady at Mt. Calvary FBH Church in Springfield, OH, and St. Matthew FBH Church in Columbus, OH.

Mother Blueford was appointed as the NEO District Mother in 2014, under Bishop Alonzo Rodgers. Driven and accomplished in each role, Mother Blueford served the FBH Church with the utmost humility, grace, and dignity. A true prayer warrior, Mother Blueford truly exemplified the attributes of a First Lady and mother to the highest. The life she lived was a life of giving God the glory! The Lord had given Mother Blueford the gifts of prayer, wisdom, and consultation. On many occasions, she prayed for countless young women and men and counseled numerous young married couples. Her desire was to see others saved, for them to walk close with the Lord and learn more of God.

Mother Blueford was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Margaret Hutson, son, Stephen Carl Blueford, sister, Mary Hunter, nephew, Larry Hutson, and niece, Deborah Crockett.

Mother Blueford is survived by her husband, Elder Willie Blueford; daughter, Minister Cheryl L. (Armstead) Fields; grandsons, Roger A. (Leah) Hunt, Jr., and Armstead (Charmaine) Fields II; great- grandchildren, Josiah Hunt, Jayah Hunt, Akili Stephens, Armstead III, and Kenyon Fields; special niece, Charlene Hutson; and longtime friend, Mother Johnnie R. Howard. A proud grandmother and “GG”, Mother Blueford actively participated in the lives of her grandchildren until failing health. Many are left to forever cherish Mother Blueford’s memory, including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends, and the entire FBH Church family.
