William Craft, Jr., (aka “Jr.”) was born to William and Margaret Craft on February 4, 1942, in Columbus, Ohio. On December 1, 2025, at the age of 83, he entered eternal rest and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was educated in Franklin County, Ohio. He graduated from Marion Franklin High School in 1960. Shortly thereafter, he joined the United States Marine Corps. During his service, he received the following awards: Good Conduct Medal, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He traveled over the world and did three tours in Vietnam. He retired from the Marine Corps. on July 26, 1967. He retired from the Defense Supply Center Columbus (“DCSC”) after 18 years of service. Though the love of family was his greatest joy, singing gospel was his passion. He was a member of several gospel groups which included; the Gospel Clouds of Joy, The Basement Boys, Shining and Zion’s Melody. He also loved horseback riding, bike riding, fishing, and gardening. He planted a beautiful garden every year and was a proud member of Gospel Lighthouse Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Craft; sister and brother-in-law, Dora and Robert Oaks; brother, Thomas Mozee; and daughter, Tracy Hunt.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 22 years, Dorothy Craft; niece/sister, Margaret (Clinton) Hearns; sons, Tony Foster, Kelvin (Genelynn) Craft, Rock (Tina) Craft; Curtis Craft, William Lane, Lee Craft, Camar Craft, and Michael Cole; daughter, Grace Craft; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Everyone knew that they held a special place in his heart.
