WILLIAM “LUCIUS” SULLIVAN, SR., was born on August 23, 1929, in Columbus, Ohio. He was the fourth of four sons born to the late Frank and Annie Sullivan. He departed this life on April 7, 2026. Lucius attended East High School and from there started early into the workforce. He was a laborer for Garwick & Ross Construction for 18 years. During a slow period, he was loaned out to Electric Power Equipment Co., and due to his hard work and strong work ethic, he was hired and remained there until he retired. He founded LUMAS, INC., and owned intellectual property consisting of six copyrights.
Lucius was a member and Elder of Ephesus Seventh-Day Adventist Church and taught Sabbath School for 50 years. He started the Good Samaritan Club, sang in the choir and men’s quartet, worked in the Treasurer’s office, and served on many committees. He and his wife would embrace new members and invite them home for Sabbath dinner. When Clifton Davis visited Ephesus, they took him home too for Sabbath dinner. Although Clifton Davis was a celebrity and a pleasure to meet, Lucius was no respecter of persons; he welcomed everyone with open arms.
He was preceded in death by his previous spouse, Geraldine E. Armstong, who was the mother of his seven children, Brenda, Jacqueline, Annette, Patricia, Sharon, Lucius, and Carolyn. As one door closed, another one opened, joining Lucius and Alberta as husband and wife. Further enlarging his family, he became Dad to Vicki and Christopher.
Lucius was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank Sullivan, James Sullivan, and Clarence Sullivan; father-in-law, Albert Barrien; sister-in-law, Ann Butler; stepson, Christopher Warren; sons-in-law, Richard Lewis and Thaddeus Hunt; and grandson, Troy Prysock.
Lucius is survived by his wife, Alberta; daughters, Brenda Russell, Jacqueline (Tommy) Hunt, Annette Lewis, Patricia Sullivan, Sharon (Lloyd) Ayers, Carolyn (Gene) Smith, and Victoria Warren; son, Lucius (Charlene) Sullivan, Jr.; special sons, Dr. Melvin Pascall, Dr. William T. (LaTanya) Cox, Sr.; 19 grandchildren, Tonja, Tracee, Michael, Kim, Terri, Michelle, Andre, Tami, Tyann, Monika, Margaret, Carol, Loy, Buster, Lucius, Lance, Tony, Nathan, and Daquan; 48 great-grandchildren and 83 great-greatgrandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
