Wymund Douglas Sparrow, “Doug,” was born to Wheeler and Lois Sparrow in Columbus, Ohio. He was the second oldest of three children born to this union.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Wheeler and Lois Sparrow, and sister, Donna Sparrow-Harris. He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife of 33 years, Jackie; daughter, LaTasha (Mark) Bester; son, Darien Sparrow; brother, Wheeler (Janet) Sparrow, Jr.; sister, Wanda (Leon) Marshall, Jr.; mother-in-law, Dorothy Howard; brothers-in-law, Anthony (Edie) Jackson, Tyrone (Dorothy) Jackson, Nathan Howard, Jr., and Christopher Howard; sisters-in-law, Dorothea (CL) Rankin and Minister Bronsha Howard; aunts, Marjorie Banks and Carol Sparrow; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
Doug graduated from Columbus public schools (Clarfield Elementary, Beery Jr. High, and Marion Franklin High School). After graduating from high school, Doug joined the United States Air Force, where he served for 13 years. During his tenure in the Air Force, Staff Sargent Sparrow was stationed in Rome, New York, Incirlik, Turkey, and Clovis, New Mexico. After retiring from the Air Force, Doug worked for the United States Postal Service.
Doug was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan. He also enjoyed swimming, planting vegetable gardens, wood working, and listening to different genres of music. He was an excellent pool
player and a self-proclaimed movie critic.
